Club Night from DeeGeeBee

Enjoy the view from DeeGeeBee. It made the perfect accompaniment to my bowl of shreddies this morning.

Here it is:

The morning after.

In a few words, Kevin Costner.

Yep, 19 lovely happy Harriers trained last night. This included new runners. Hello and a big YPH welcome to Dave, Hannah and Katie. It means a lot to us. We have built a field of dreams out of a small back-street pub in the hope that if we build it, they will come. Guess what? Lovely, fresh-faced and enthusiastic runners are rocking up and I’m loving it. Think of the Kevin Keegan outburst on Sky Sports, when Newcastle were duelling with Manchester United for the premiership, think of me saying I love it every time a new runner appears. It makes me feel like the new BMW advert and the lyrics: I’m alive!

And I see things mighty clear today, I’m alive!

I’m alive!

And I’m breathin’ clean, fresh air today, I’m alive!

I hope each and every one of you feels similarly alive whenever you run.

The love was a plenty last night as runners encouraged one another, cared for one another, challenged one another and generally looked out for one another. This is why we run. It’s fun. It’s intoxicating. It makes you feel good. It’s primal. It’s free. It’s the essence of happiness.

The star in the bar was a young man called Becks. I thought I had the chat with the ladies but this dude was another species. I paled compared to him. Adoring people tickled him. In return, he showed them his belly. He had full beard and matching fur coat. His waggly tail was a thing of wonder. I wish my leg speed could match the pace his tailed wagged. And to kick sand in my face, he had an American accent. Way too cool for school. I played second fiddle to Deanna’s dog, no not Jason, but her wonderful and charismatic shelter dog. We need to order a doggy YPH vest to make him a member of the club.

To end, thank you for supporting the club. We are stronger together. Wherever you are running this weekend, run with love in your hearts and pride in our vest. We are YPH. It’s a way of life.

Take care and run happy, be happy.

At our recent AGM we discussed how we award our sole club place in the London Marathon. The consensus was to keep the criteria the same but to publish it on our website so it was clear to all members
