Vets on the loose

It's normally vets who round up loose animals. I'm not sure who rounded up our vets yesterday but well done to Jim, Si, Sam and Elliott for taking on the Yorkshire Veterans Cross Country Championships at Longley Park in Sheffield. I'm not quite sure what's going on in this photo, I'll leave the chaps to explain but well done Si for finding a pair of shorts that continue the Postal white stripe around your posterior.

Great performances all round with Si benefitting from his recent warm weather training camp and finishing in 41.38 for 26th overall and 11th in his age category. Jim was next home in 43.56 for 38th overall and 9th in his age cat whilst Sam's 44.58 was good enough for 44th place and 20th in his age cat. The really great news is that those performances gave us 5th place in the team event, finishing only 3 points behind 4th. Well done chaps!

The next event in the YVAA series is the 10 mile road champs at Thirsk this Sunday. Entries are still open to anyone, even the young folk! More details here https://bookitzone.com/elizabeth_wordsworth/eBjFFX

I can't see any race results elsewhere so that leaves parkrun with some standout performances to shout about. First up this week is Dom, my spies tell me he's been chasing sub 20 and boy did he do it this week. Hes was the setting as he romped home in 19.48. Cracking stuff Dom and I hope the benefits of training with YPH are starting to show. Next target has to be your Dad, go get him Dom!

Elsewhere we had Ian finishing in a fabulous 4th place at York whilst 3 of us were on massive roadtrips, presumably not just for a parkrun but you never know. Andrew was in Aviemore and Danny & Amanda were about 50 miles south of there at Faskally Forest. An eagle eyed photographer captured Amanda's sprint finish for us!

That's it for this week. Hope everyone has a great week, I'm off to William Hill's to put a bet on Jase finishing his next Hes parkrun in 21.25. Gamble sensibly.

London Marathon Place

At our recent AGM we discussed how we award our sole club place in the London Marathon. The consensus was to keep the criteria the same but to publish it on our website so it was clear to all members

Reasons to be cheerful!

As we start a new season and dive feet first into Spring marathons and Summer League's beyond, it's worth taking a moment to celebrate everything that is giving Postal Harriers reasons to be cheerful
