York Postal Harriers were out in force as we took over New Earswick parkrun.
On a sunny morning in York, 40 of our members turned out to help the regular volunteers who give their time every week.
Parkrun wouldn’t be possible without the people who help out every Saturday. Most of our members are regular park runners, so it was really important for us to give something back to the community - and have some fun at the same time!

A job for everyone
Finding a role for 40 people at Parkrun might sound like a tough ask but there really is a job for everyone somewhere.

Pacers
Some of our regular speed merchants were on pacing duties. They helped runners hit the times they were looking for, from 19 minutes to 35 minutes.

Time keeping and barcodes
One of the most high-pressured jobs at Parkrun. After a hard 5k, nobody wants a few seconds added to their time or a place lower down the rankings!
These Posties took it in their stride though…
A special guest
Our friend Simon Middleton, who’s also the Postal Harriers Chairman and a New Earswick Parkrun race director, came along to help out.

And finally…
Mark Pearson (and his dodgy hamstring) put in a long shift as official tail walker.
One of the most important and longest jobs at Parkrun to make sure nobody gets left behind.
