Oh what a night!

It felt like the streets of Pocklington were a sea of red, white and blue as Team Postal descended on the town en masse for the long awaited return of the Summer League. It has been a long time coming and judging by the smiles below, we were all ready for a return to the Road Race League.

Pock has often thrown four seasons in one evening at us in the past so it was a pleasure to witness it in near perfect conditions. Expectations were high as our trophy winning ladies cross country team took to the tarmac whilst we've probably got our strongest mens team to date. No pressure then!

And did we deliver! We always knew Jordan was quick but boy was he quick. 32.22 for a hilly 10K and 1st place was an awesome start to the evening whilst the rest of us were getting value for money and enjoying the rest of the course. Our first 6 men all dipped under 40 minutes with some standout performances from Ian Smithson & Elliot Cole, finishing 20th and 21st respectively, Elliot finishing 6th in his age category.

We had several other top 10 age category finishers including Mel Ellwood (7th), Bill Shively (6th) and Di Campbell (4th).

It was just a beautiful night to be out wearing the Postal kit again. Thanks to our supporters stationed around the course.

The next race in the series is in Tadcaster on 10th May and note the later start time of 7.30pm that will apply for the remainder of the series.

Thank you to all our newer members who have been in touch to place your orders for your new official club shirts. The order has now been submitted so I'm hopeful we will have your shirts in time for Taddy.

All our existing members can now also order new t-shirts or vests for use in races. You can order these direct from our supplier yourselves and see my earlier post for details on how to do this.

The supplier has a new website about to go live and once it does we will have a YPH page on there with a much wider range of YPH branded kit. We will indeed be the best dressed in town!

Last Sunday saw a small band of YPH warriors take on the Swainby Sweep on the North York Moors. A choice of a 7 mile or 16 mile course with most opting for the shorter version in a vain attempt to protect their legs ahead of the Summer League.

It's a beauty of an event taking in some of our area's finest scenery along parts of the Cleveland Way as you descend to Scarth Nick. Club Captain Harriet even chose it as her preferred way of spending her birthday. Belated happy birthday Captain!
