Club Update - Thank You Dolly

We have recently received confirmation from Ian Dalton that he would like to stand down as Chair of our fabulous club. Ian has spent several decades as chair of our club and has invested a huge amount of time and enthusiasm in contributing towards getting the club where it is today. For that we owe him a huge amount of gratitude.

On behalf of the Committee and all our members, thank you Ian for everything you've done.

We are really pleased to confirm that the Committee wanted to recognise Ian's contribution by making him Honorary President of our club with immediate effect and we are delighted that Ian has accepted this position.

This means we have a vacancy as Chair along with several other vacant roles within the Committee. We will be advertising these shortly so please get ready to express an interest if you would like to be involved.

In the meantime, Simon Middleton will act as Interim Chair with the support of the Committee members and we all look forward to developing the club on the solid foundations it already has.

Watch this space for more news on the Committee vacancies.

You may have also noticed a new page appear on our website relating to England Athletics Club Standards. EA have seven standards that they would like every affiliated club to work towards. We already have some of this in place, but it remains a work in progress. We are working towards having all the standards in place and these will be shown on our website as they are completed. Many of them are policy related and the webpage shows the seven different standards on the menu bar.

Our ambition is that these don't become policies that are published once and then forgotten about. We believe that EA are moving to a point where clubs have to meet the standards in order to be affiliated and we want to showcase them as it will help attract and retain members.

Lastly, our training sessions started again last night with some delightful hill intervals at the University of York. It was great to see some potential new members joining us as we collectively seek to blow off the Christmas cobwebs. Please keep an eye on our Whatsapp group and Facebook page for details of the location of training each week.

All the best.
